I’m peddling stuff. Like, peddling hard yo!

Alice in Wonderland bag

Words cannot adequately express how much I love this pattern. It’s the “Buttercup Bag” pattern by Rae Hoekstra and after I made my first two, I knew I had to buy the license to sell them. This one is in my etsy shop. It’s Japanese linen and red vintage polka dot fabric. I wish someone would buy it because it’s PAINFUL to think about parting with it and it’s so so so so tempting to just snatch it off the shelf and fill it with my cards and lipbalm! ;)

September Flowers Bag

This one is Robert Kaufman and a yarn dyed checkered cotton. Seriously the cutest. bag. ever. Also in the etsy shop.

I have a bunch of these cut out just waiting to be sewn — I need to pick up more magnetic snaps.

Halloween pinback buttons!

And then I got all excited when I realized it was September and nearly almost Halloween. So I put together these buttons. Been meaning to try bigcartel.com so I put the buttons up there to see how they sell. I’m also going to put them on etsy when I have a few minutes.

My classes started today. I spent two damn hours doing Spanish work and all I can say is my name and what town I live in. I have mom-brain super bad. Sorry for the disjointed sentences that I don’t even bother to

Pictures! Pictures, right? Aren’t they worth 1000 words? This is pretty much what my life is like:

Shop news!!

OKay, here’s the deal. I’m 35 weeks pregnant now and feel like I could just explode any minute now!

I’m going to continue to take custom orders through June 12, but I want everyone to know that if something happens (you know, like birth) and I disappear for a few days, I’m going to ship your orders as soon as I can!

I don’t know how long I’ll need to recover afterward. I’d like to take the first two weeks off in July and then slowly get back into the swing of things. I anticipate I’ll be able to take custom orders again by August.

I’ve got some great new products I want to roll out, but I’ve been so busy with customs I haven’t had time to debut anything!

The past three months have been the most awesome for me since I opened my etsy shop two years ago and I am super appreciative of all my wonderful loyal customers! You all have made my job really fun and I just want to say THANK YOU for all your support.

Don’t forget to check back on May 27th because I’m going to have an AWESOME GIVEAWAY with THREE prizes. Oh yes, it’s so awesome, I had to put it in caps. Okay, that’s all for now! I’ll blog again very soon with pictures and such! XOXO!

Frantically blogging between each sink full of dishes

There has been so SO much going on. I just don’t even know where to start.

Done!!!

That is what 60 pads look like all piled up on my dining room table! That has been the monster project I’ve been working on ALL MONTH in addition to sewing and stocking the etsy shop and trying* to keep up with schoolwork. I have to say, I’m SO glad that they are now out of my house! That was officially the biggest order I’ve ever fulfilled and it really wiped so much out of me. I mentioned in my last post that I have been anemic? Well I haven’t even had the energy to work my snap press — so I had to enlist my hubby to help with that.

I’m feeling much better now though. On Friday I attended and presented at the university undergraduate Women’s & Gender Studies conference. That was really cool, but I feel like it took me an entire week to prepare for it and the whole weekend to recover! My thesis presentation is due in two weeks and I haven’t even started that part of it! Ooops! At least ceramics is going well.

My pot!

Last night in ceramics I started carving robots in my pot. Aaron doodles these adorable robots and I made him draw some for me to trace and carve in my ceramics project. I actually had a lot of fun in class last night. It was so relaxing to just be out of the house.

Sullivan’s turning TWO on Saturday so of course I have to plan an elaborate party now. I’m sure this will eat up most of the next few days and I’ll need another week to recover from that. I have a lot of gifts planned that I need to make him still. Ooops! Basically my plan is to sew all day Thursday and Friday and then the party is Saturday. I’ll have a bunch of homework due on Sunday that will probably keep me busy all day too. Uggh!

If I haven’t replied to your etsy convo it’s not because I’m ignoring you! Well, if you’re wanting me to do work, maybe I am putting you off a little bit though — just because things are so hectic at the moment! Having that big order out of the way has gone a long way to de-stress me, but there’s lots of stress in the future because I’m wrangling with suppliers right now. Basically, a few things about my products will have to change because of the way I’d been getting materials.

For example, I have about seven yards of hemp left and NO IDEA when I’ll be able to get some more at a low enough price that it’s even feasible to continue to use it. Prices on materials have gone up significantly lately and what I paid for my last few bales is no longer, unfortunately. I’ve got some organic cotton that I’m going to start phasing into my shop once I have time to cut and prep it all. I think that organic cotton is the choice for me. I know that most other pad makers are really into bamboo, but I just haven’t found an economical weight of fleece that is as durable as hemp or cotton. I think bamboo is great for tops and bamboo velour is very lush and so much softer than hemp velour (bamboo is pretty much the softest type of fleece out there too), BUT I just don’t think it’s a good match for me right now — and I always pick materials and fabrics that I would choose for my own pads.

The other thing that is going to have to change is the snaps I currently use. When I bought my snap press I didn’t know much about them — and I bought a certain brand that I’ve never been very happy with. Well I found out I can get a custom set of dyes for my press so that I can use other snaps. I may or may not then be switching to metal snaps. I’m still in the “testing” phase for the snaps I want to use. Until then, the only color poly-resin snaps I can offer is taupe. I want to use up what I have left of the old snaps before I make the switch.

Okay, there’s more, but I’ve got to get some work done around the house because I have a full day of classes today!

Baby plaster mold

Uh. This is pretty much how I feel right now! (we were doing plaster casting at ceramics last night too and someone wanted a cast of a baby doll face…)

Shop updates!

Thursdays and Fridays are either my days to get stuff DONE or to rest. Today I am kicking stuff’s butt and taking stuff’s names…

So last night I spent a few hours digging through my pillowcases of vintage sewing supplies and I stuffed six envelopes FULL of stuff. Those were the “fun packages” I blogged about last night. This morning I photographed my little kits and put them up on my etsy shop. Fun, right? Here’s a peek:

More are in my shop!

The kits were fun to put together, but bittersweet. I’ve done a lot of soul searching about crafting lately — after really trying to figure out whether or not to buy that Yudu. I need to just do crafts that I love, and not try to do ALL the crafts — just because I potentially can. I have such a hard time buying things that I know I could make myself, but honestly, I will just never get around to learning how to make everything! Like hand-knitted stuff. I LOVE hand-knitted stuff, but I have no idea how to knit and I need to stop buying knitting needles thinking it will somehow magically convince me to pick it up.

I have a huge box of craft supplies that I’m going to take back to the thrift store even!

This morning I made a gallon of sweet tea for my kombucha mother and when she’s all settled in I might bake a loaf of bread. The rest of the day I plan to sew, sew, sew and get around to snapping those pocket pads that are sitting around. Still haven’t seen the cat this morning. It will be harder to get a daily picture of him when it gets warmer and he goes AWL.

I’m pretty tired already, but I don’t think Sullivan is anywhere near taking a nap. If only he had an off switch!
